My tuition philosophy is based on a few important principals:
1. Firm mathematical foundations
2. Encouraging critical thinking and problem solving skills (Maths Mindset)
3. Unbreakable resilience
4. A love for life long learning, long after students leave school.
And true to my principals I have enrolled myself on to the Level 2 Certificate Course in Understanding Child and Young People's Mental Health at RHAC College. I sincerely believe that one of the keys to unlocking a child's academic potential is building a fearless and resilience attitude towards Mathematics. So often students freeze at the sight of a complex math problem, or shut down with anxiety at the thought of sitting an Maths assessment. Thats why I focus on building self confidence in my students to approach difficult situations with strength and resilience, with a feeling of empowerment and encourage the use of stress and anxiety management techniques when they are feeling overwhelmed.
I'm so happy I have been able to take time out of my tuition schedule to boost my understanding of the mental health issues that may affect children and young people and how it might affect their academic performance in formal education, as well as learn learn techniques that may help me to support students who need that extra bit of help with managing Maths anxiety and exam stress.
If you are interested in helping your child deal with exam stress and building a positive resilience mental attitude please see the Mental Health section of this website for courses organised by Tranquil Minds Tutoring.
